Craig Hayward is associate vice chancellor of analytics and innovation at Kern Community College District. He is also a visiting executive for strategic research and innovative design with California Community Colleges. His work focuses on clarifying the role of structure and sequence completion in student success, particularly in developmental sequences such as English, math, and ESL, as well as in program pathways. He previously served as dean of institutional effectiveness at Bakersfield College and director of planning, research, and accreditation at Irvine Valley College. Hayward has played a key role in statewide initiatives through the RP Group for California Community Colleges, contributing to projects such as the Student Success Scorecard, the Basic Skills Cohort Progress Tracker, and the Transfer Velocity Cohort Report. He has also taught statistics, research methods, and psychology. Hayward earned his BA with a concentration in psychology from Boston University and a PhD in psychology from the University of California, Irvine.
