Katie Annand

Katie Annand is a managing attorney with Immigrant Legal Defense (ILD) in Oakland, California. She leads ILD’s K–12 legal–education partnerships; these provide direct representation to K–12 students and families in removal proceedings. She also works with school and district staff to secure wraparound services for clients. Prior to joining ILD, Annand opened the San Francisco and Fresno offices of Kids in Need of Defense. She is a cochair of the Practicing Law Institute's program on representing unaccompanied children in California; a steering committee member of Immigrant Health Equity and Legal Partnerships; and a member of the End SIJS Backlog Coalition’s youth working group. She has contributed to numerous publications amplifying the stories of unaccompanied children and the detrimental impact of the U.S.’s harmful immigration policies. She is a member of the California Bar Association. Annand received her JD from the University of California College of Law, San Francisco.
